So I think I'm going to come back to using this as a blog, I expect nobody to read it but that's part of the reason why I plan on using this site to blog with. My other blog always gets some kind of response to them, even when I don't really want one and I hate the layout etc. of the other website.
I may copy/paste some of my old blogs from that site over to this one, but we'll see.
We moved to Austin in late October. We really enjoyed the winter down here as it only gets down to about 50-60 degrees on most days. We were the only people in our apartment complex to keep our patio door open during the winter, people thought we were crazy, but we're used to below 0 temps in Minnesota so, 60 degrees was warm to us lol.
Lets see, we were pretty social for a little while but then we both fell into our "hermit" routine. I dunno, I don't like FORCING myself to be social...just to be social, so I stopped doing it because going out to do shit I don't like, just to be "social" just seems...well....retarded.
We still go out with friends if they wanna do something of interest, but if it's just to go to the bar, drink and listen to shitty music the whole time, I pass. The bar scene isn't my scene at all. So I go to parks and shit like that with friends. Austin has great outdoor areas to go hang out at so I prefer to do that.
Nick and I both went far too long without a job, though he had more of an excuse than I did, he just got strung along twice [for 2 different jobs] and after a month of interviews etc, the dropped the position all together, so for about 3 months he thought he had a job just to have it taken away, but he did finally land a job. It's not a job he likes and thankfully he has an interview for a position that is more his speed doing something he likes, it also pays more so..bonus!
I got a job about a month ago @ Target but didn't start until last Wed. So far I'm actually enjoying MOST of it, definitely not all of it, I mean...it is retail, I do enjoy retail [i'm weird, I know] but there are definitely aspects I don't like, like being asked to do something that ISN'T my job because we're understaffed that day and just shit like that, it comes with the retail enviroment, but I still don't like it, but I gotta do what I gotta do.
I enjoy the company, I enjoy MY job, which is on the sales floor in Electronics. Electronics is starting to do very well, apparently the section was terrible until just recently and I'm hoping I can continue the trend of keeping the place up to par and beyond. I got the grasp of most day to day things, I need to learn the layout of the store a bit better as I get asked where non-electronic thing are and I have no idea wtf they're talking about lol, luckily I can find out quickly but it'll be nice to be able to answer the question myself.
My plan is to probably stay in electronics for a little bit and then switch to another position, I need to talk to to one of the managers and see if I can figure something out. The first manager to interview me wants me over in her department but they currently don't have the room to fit me. It would be gauranteed full-time hours with every weekend off and sometimes even friday if we stay late and what not, the shifts kinda suck [4am to 12:30 or later and 6am to 2:30pm or later] but it's what my shifts were @ my last job and I really didn't mind it, being the homebody I am, I don't go out all night and shit anyways, but if I wanted to, I could on the weekends, which is great.
So lets see...I need a car, we're working on that now, I think I'll be able to do a better job of saving up for a cheapy car in a few months if we do end up moving into a cheaper apartment. Nick and I are thinking about downgrading from a 2bedroom to a 1 bedroom and save oursevles a healthy chunk of change. After a few months we should be able to save up enough for a decent car, but I'm not going to bother dropping a large amount of money on a car right now, still have money in savings that I wanna put a downpayment on a house in a year or 2, so setting up a second savings for car. I'm able to walk too and from work so no need for one yet, it would just be for convenience.
Um, yeah not a whole lot to report, we had some car issues a couple months ago but that got sorted out, Nicks sisters were in town last week and that was a LOT of fun, I really do miss them, I'll have to make a blog about the things we did after this at some point, was good stuff.
Things are looking up, things seem to finally be falling into place and I dunno....life really feels like it's on track and I feel like I'm where I'm supposed to be at in my life, yeah I wish I was making 6 figures a year and shit like that by now but wahtever, I'm only 28, I have plenty of time to accomplish that....right? lol.
